This is the first filing season that the 99 million taxpayers who get refunds can go to "Where's My Refund?" on www.irs.gov to check on their refunds. Once taxpayers provide identifying information form their return, they may receive several responses, including (1) the return was received and is being processed, (2) the mailing date or direct deposit date of the taxpayer's refund or (3) whether a refund has been returned to the IRS as undeliverable. The results include links to customized information, based on the taxpayer's situation, that guide the taxpayer through the steps needed to resolve any issues affecting the refund.
