“My goal is to combine my legal, tax, and financial skills by working with high net worth clients throughout their lifetimes and their beneficiaries’ lifetimes. It makes me feel good to help others and know I’m making a difference in their lives.”

Lawyer – 10+ years
Financial Advisor – 3+ years

As a Financial Advisor in Advanced Planning, Colleen brings 10+ years of experience to SFG. As a lawyer and financial planner, she is qualified in helping affluent clients develop a comprehensive wealth strategy due to her in-depth understanding of the legal, tax, and financial aspects of the plan. Colleen constructs, manages, and maintains clients’ financial portfolios by focusing on legal and tax ramifications. Colleen serves as lead advisor to SFG's Trust Representative Office of National Advisors Trust Company (Strategic Private Trust Services). She works best with families to preserve their wealth and their legacy. Colleen pays close attention to clients’ concerns by talking things through and assisting where necessary.

During the busy tax return season, Colleen is outsourced to StrategIQ Tax and Business Services, LLC (STBS) to provide tax return services to STBS clients. Colleen enjoys providing such tax return assistance as it keeps her current on the latest tax developments.

Colleen graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Campaign with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She continued on to DePaul University College of Law and attained her Juris Doctor (JD). Colleen has worked for Illinois-based law firms, and is experienced with working with affluent families by representing them in divorce, tax, estate planning, and estate administration matters. She counseled clients on potential estate and income tax implications of their estate plan and determined whether their goals align with the language of their current documents. Colleen made the transition from estate planning to financial planning to cultivate deeper relationships with her clients. She earned her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation through the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. Colleen is looking forward to expanding her knowledge in investment management.

Colleen participated in the Illinois State Bar Association Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program. This created an opportunity for Colleen to provide professional guidance and share her knowledge, judgment, and skills with a newly-admitted attorney. Step by step, she believes we can make a big difference in our communities.

Colleen is a proud mother of her daughter, Emma, and has two rescue puppies (who keep her on her toes). Her caring and compassionate nature has led her to become an Illinois-licensed foster parent. Colleen’s favorite sports team is the Chicago Cubs, and she would like to attend one of its games in each stadium.
